سعدي الحلي

Pronounced [SAADEE AL-HEELLY]

Meaning: A very famous Iraqi country singer, who hails from Hilla. Noted for his songs, and also for his notoriety. He is (allegedy) a homosexual (Bi-Sexual? He does have a son, Khalid). His (unproven) homosexuality continues to be the source for endless gay jokes involving "Abu Khalid" (Khalid's Father) well after the man himself has disappeared from the public eye. he is also associated with the number 5 (the Hindi character used to write this in arabic is similar to an "o", which hints to the anus) his jokes have transformed him from being a successful singer into a "descriptor" for homosexuality itself, i.e. in Iraq it is not uncommon for gays to be referred to as "Jama'at Saadee Al-Heelly" (Saadee's friends/people) What might have contributed to this reputation is probably the fact that his songs used the masculine form (a style used in Arabic songs although the singer is a man and singing for a woman) It should be noted that he is a well-accomplished and well-respected singer among many Iraqis especially those who like the country traditional style.
